Toronto Chinese Mennonite Church, through a recent CBC News report published online June 1, 2026, has become aware that Ottawa police have laid charges against former pastor James Evans for alleged historic sexual assaults of minors. James Evans was employed at TCMC from 1996-2000. We do not know whether the alleged incidents occurred during the time he was employed with TCMC.  Please refer to our denominational news release for further information on this ongoing investigation.
